I would not trade my Kindle for anything...page and text size are great after trading stocks on my Apple (which was a mistake) all day...screen is then a big factor on eye strain..and you can just listen if you want...I have an ipod around here some place too!

But does it matter if iPad becomes reading device of choice? My prediction: Amazon remains leader in e-books, whether it is on their device or not. There is no money in hardware once it becomes commoditized.

No way. The Ipad does not come close to the reading experience of a kindle. You cant read the ipad outside, you cant take it for a week and not charge it, its heavier and it costs 3 times as much.
For B&W books, kindle is killer.

Bezos is right. Kindles are wonderful, they're retro (like reading). I'll keep mine for daily use, even though I may eventually buy an ipad 2 or 3 generations hence. It's e-ink and single focus that makes reading a joy on the K.

Jobs and Gates are going to make kindling wood out of Amazon with their new tablets and force Amazon into a niche. Besos would like to believe in the steak knives model, but at least, in the long term, is a loosing proposition. The Killer App product with be a multi use tablet and it's time is long in the making.
